Award of Haulage and Port Services Contract for DeGrussa Copper - Gold Project

20th March 2012 –

Qube Ports and Bulk (ABN: 46 123 021 492) is pleased to announce the award of the haulage and port services contract for Sandfire Resources NL (ASX: SFR; Sandfire) DeGrussa Copper-Gold Project, located 900km north of Perth in Western Australia.

Qube Ports and Bulk is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qube Logistics Holdings Limited (ASX: QUB; Qube), a leading logistics company employing 3700 people nationally with operations covering a broad range of logistics, ports and bulk activities. The contract services will be provided by the Qube Ports and Bulk, Bulk operating division.

Sandfire is a rapidly emerging mid tier Australian copper-gold company, through its flagship asset, the 100% DeGrussa project in Western Australia.

Qube’s recent acquisition of Giacci was influential in Sandfire’s decision to award the contract to Qube Bulk as an integrated provider, rather than award separate haulage and stevedoring contracts. The contract, which has a total estimated value of more than $120 million over a five year term encompasses provision of a fully integrated haulage and port services solution for both the Direct Shipping Ore (DSO) and Copper Concentrate to be produced by the DeGrussa project.

The material will be trucked to Port in purpose built half-height concentrate containers, which will enable ship-loading using Qube Bulk’s unique environmentally friendly Rotabox rotating frame system. As well, the solution is supported by an integrated Consignment Tracking and Event Management System and RFID technology for accurate product and consignment identification throughout the supply chain.
