Qube opens world class Oil and Gas Supply Base in Darwin22nd September 2015 –
Northern Territory Chief Minister, Adam Giles, has officially opened Qube’s new Darwin Supply Base along with Qube Ports & Bulk Managing Director, Don Smithwick, and ConocoPhillips Operations Manager, Filippo Meacci.
Qube has invested $25 million in this state of the art oil and gas supply base located on a 36,000sqm site in Darwin’s East Arm logistics precinct, within close proximity to the port, railway and Darwin Business Park.
Qube Ports & Bulk Managing Director Don Smithwick said the facility demonstrates Qube’s commitment to invest in world-class resources to support oil and gas projects in the region.
The Supply Base will be one of the largest of its kind in Australia with 18,000 square metres of heavy duty concrete hardstand with a 10,000 square metre warehouse including a large cool room, dangerous goods store, 4,000 bays of pallet racking and a modern 1,100 square metre office space.
The facility is 24 hour capable and has been purpose built to the highest of standards with a significant emphasis on environmental performance. Some of the green energy saving initiatives that were incorporated in the building design include LED lighting throughout, a 30Kw solar power unit and a fully recycling wash bay with its own water treatment and no discharge.
This purpose built facility will be operated to service ConocoPhillips offshore requirements for the Darwin LNG project (Bayu Undan).
As Qube’s second supply base in Darwin, this facility strengthens Qube’s network of supply bases in Northern Australia and reinforces Qube’s capacity to provide a comprehensive range of specialised logistics services to the oil & gas industry.
“We look forward to a strong presence in Darwin, building our operations and local workforce as we support oil and gas projects in the region for years to come,” Mr Smithwick said
